Geek In Heels, LLC, a computer and cell phone repair company that specializes in personalized device repairs, announced that it received the 2019 Most Innovative Business Award for Small Business from Venture Café 2nd Annual Most
Innovative Companies in the Triad Awards. Shalisha Morgan, CEO and Founder of Geek In
Heels received recognition and tied in the small business category. Venture Café held its 2nd Annual Most Innovative Companies in the Triad award on Thursday, May 2, 2019. The award recognizes small, medium and large companies doing extraordinary things. Cook Medical won in the Large Company category and Fluree also tied in the Small Business category with Geek In Heels. Geek In Heels was voted winner for breaking the status quo and redefining gender roles with her computer and cell phone repair business that is 100% owned and operated by an African American Woman.
Upon receiving the award at the Venture Café ceremony Shalisha stated, “When I originally created Geek In Heels my intentions were to show visual representation that Women, who look like me, are in this field of I.T. I wanted to inspire and empower the next generation of ‘female fixers’ and this award gives me confidence to continue forward empowering.” Of the company’s recent success, it is celebrating its six-month milestone of being opened inside of Hanes Mall. Shalisha Morgan was also featured in the seventh edition of ‘Who’s Who in Black Charlotte’ 2019 publication.
About Geek In Heels, LLC. Shalisha Morgan, a native of Kansas City, KS, originally founded Geek In Heels in 2013 as a computer and cell phone repair company. The business was a first of its kind in KS or MO to be 100% owned and operated by an African American Woman.
In 2015, Shalisha relocated to Winston Salem, NC. In October of 2018, Shalisha decided to
leave her full-time I.T. job and pursue her dreams of turning her side hustle into a successful business. Opening her first brick and mortar location inside of Hanes Mall on December 6, 2018. Geek In Heels location inside of Hanes Mall is the first of its kind to be owned and operated by a woman.
