If you did not run out and buy the iPhone 11, 11 Pro or the 11 Max don't worry. Neither did I because my iPhone XS Max is working perfectly fine and I've had it only a year. Apple released iOS 13 software update on September 19th for those of us who did not upgrade to the iPhone 11, Apple Watch Series 5 or the new iPad. 'YEAH' and 'BOO' at the same time. YEAH - Because iOS 13 update gave the new Memoji sticker feature to nearly EVERYONE who did not have an iPhone X or newer device. Another 'YEAH' for me is the Dark Mode feature. I just added this feature on both my iPhone and iPad device and LOVE IT! It's another way to customize my devices. The 'REMINDERS' feature is one of my favorites with the update, too.
The Reminders app in iOS 13 is all-new with more powerful ways to create, organize, and keep track of your reminders. Siri now suggests reminders throughout iOS, which makes it easier to add new reminders. There’s also support for attachments, a new quick toolbar, smart lists, and more. Smart lists allow you to keep track of your upcoming reminders with an interface that automatically organizes and displays them based on your schedule and flags. BOO - Because iOS 13 update gave the new Memoji sticker feature to nearly EVERYONE who did not have an iPhone X or newer device. I enjoyed flaunting this feature in my friend's and families' faces. Now... how will I taunt them? Well, there is still me being able to flaunt this feature in the faces of my friends and family who have dreadful Android devices. Oh... how I love sending them a Memoji video and then them asking, "How did you do that? How can I get that my phone?" My reply, 'Silly, Rabbit! Memoji is for iPhone!' *insert evil laugh* Another "BOO" from me because the update took 8 hours to complete on my Apple Watch Series 4. I am not even kidding. Ain't NOBODY got time for that.
HONORABLE MENTION: The swipe keyboard feature. I was not truly impressed with this feature since I use GBoard (google keyboard) on my device since I switched to the iPhone from Android four years ago. Honestly, I prefer GBoard. You can download and install GBoard from the App store and it is FREE.
To address some of the 'bugs' with iOS 13.1.2 Apple released another update. Besides the features in the updates what I took a bigger notice of was the fact that Apple has now decided to not include iPhone 6 or 6 Plus in the update. Even though I am an Apple lover and I do not have an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus I am NOT okay with this. I dislike this A LOT! The iPhone 6/6Plus devices are still good. This measure of not including this, and other Apple devices in the update, is Apple's way of deeming them now as 'legacy devices' in hopes of forcing users to spend money to upgrade their devices to the latest, greatest and sure to be more expensive devices. Pictured below are devices that Apple still has big love for and supports in iOS 13 update. Sorry, iPhone 6. Apple doesn't love you anymore, Boo! They totally ghosted you.
I guess that iOS 13 and possibly iOS 14 may be the last updates that Apple pushes to iPhone 6s and 6s Plus before they send this device to the 'legacy devices graveyard' and ghost it as well. With that said I offer the following advice, - iPhone 6 is still a good device. I highly recommend NOT uninstalling any apps that you already have installed on this device to ensure that they will continue to work before the app developers stop pushing updates to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus as well. Apps such as YouTube, Square, PayPal, Google Maps, Tinder (I'm not judging), Skype, SnapChat and so on. Now is the time to ensure that your device is up to date. - I have stated that iPhone 6 is a perfect starter device for a child. Spend just a bit more to purchase an iPhone 6S or 6S plus instead since it is on iOS 13. - To extend the life of your iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, 7, 7 Plus or older device replacing the battery is very helpful and will take your device further. - If you have an Android device, throw it in the trash and buy an iPhone :) Well, that's it! That's all that I have. Feel free to contact me directly if you should have questions regarding updating your device, making a new device purchase or just to tell me how amazing of a job I am doing. Have a great week.
